Privacy Policy

This page explains what data sqmly collects when you use sqmly.co.uk, what we do with it, and the rights you have under UK GDPR. We have tried to keep it short and readable.

Who we are

sqmly is operated by sqmly Ltd, a company based in the United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@sqmly.co.uk. For the purposes of UK data protection law, sqmly Ltd is the data controller for any personal data processed through this site.

What we collect

  • The Rightmove URL you paste into the analyser.
  • The postcode and approximate latitude and longitude we derive from that listing in order to query public data sources.
  • Standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and request timestamps, captured in server logs.
  • No account data, because user accounts are not yet live. When accounts launch, this page will be updated to describe what is stored.

What we don't collect

  • No name, email address, or phone number.
  • No payment data; sqmly is free at v1 and we do not handle card details.
  • No precise location data from your device. We do not request geolocation permission.

How we use it

  • To compute the Habitable Rating for the property you ask about.
  • To cache results so that repeat lookups for the same listing are fast and reduce load on the public data sources we depend on.
  • To produce anonymous, aggregated analytics about how the service is used, for example how many lookups are performed in a region.

Cookies

We currently set a single session cookie to keep your browser session working. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not run third-party analytics trackers. If we add accounts or billing, we will update this section before that change goes live.

Sharing

We do not sell or share personal data. To produce a Habitable Rating, the postcode and coordinates derived from your query are sent to public data sources, including:

  • postcodes.io for postcode lookups.
  • The OpenStreetMap Overpass API for points-of-interest data.
  • data.police.uk for police-recorded crime statistics.

These services receive only the postcode or coordinates needed to answer the question; they do not receive any identifier about you.

Data retention

  • Computed property results are cached for 7 days and then expire.
  • Server logs containing IP and request metadata are rotated after 30 days.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and to ask us to erase it. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@sqmly.co.uk. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

sqmly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the service, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when our practices change. Significant changes will be flagged on the homepage so returning users can see what has changed.
